Brass Jewellery Guide
Solid brass is composed of primarily copper and zinc, Due to its copper content as the metal oxidises it develops a brown patina which some love as it creates a rustic, ancient feel to the metal, on the other hand some are not a fan and find the care element to inconvenient in which case these pieces might not be for you, but if you are familiar with brass jewellery and love the beautiful signs of wear that develop over time here’s a few tips on how to care for your pieces to ensure they can be cherished for years to come.
Its best to store your pieces in a air tight container or pouch to keep it away from moisture, this will slow the oxidisation process.
If you save your pieces for special occasions and don’t wear them frequently check on them every so often and and polish them gently with a soft cloth
When wearing your pieces avoid water and chemicals such as perfume, as they will spend up the oxidisation
After wearing your pieces give them a polish with a soft cloth
